Chronology of cameras Office General de Photographie (Nadar)
The Office Général de la Photographie was founded by Paul Tournachon, also known as Paul Nadar (1856-1939), the son of Félix Tournachon, known as Nadar (1820-1910).
Paul quickly took charge of his father's workshop (gallery). When he started the equipment sales business, he didn't hesitate to use his father's signature, with his permission. The use of this logo continued even after his father had retired in 1887. Some cameras bear the name Nadar but are manufactured by a third party.
The 1888 or 1889 catalog features a photograph of the French chemist Michel-Eugène Chevreul on the cover, taken by Nadar in 1886 during an interview with the father and son.
La représentation sur ce catalogue est si mauvaise qu'il est difficile d'en comprendre l'utilisation et le fonctionnement de cet appareil. Cela ne facilite pas l'identification.
Nadar était le représentant officiel de la marque américaine Scovill. Or ce modèle a beaucoup de ressemblances avec un détective Scovill (page 873 du Mc Keown's 12ème édition). Mc Keown's précise que cet appareil est toujours représenté fermé dans les catalogues, ce qui coïncide bien.
Sans plus de certitudes, il n'est pas facile de donner des caractéristiques techniques. On sait juste qu'il est vendu par OGDP en deux formats : 8 x 10,5 et 10 x 12,5 cm.
